SETTE MAGAZINE EN VOGUE UNA STRANA ILLUSIONE CHIAMATA ANNI 80
A strange illusion called 80s. ” 80s and 90s, when fashion was “Fashion”. In those years there was the real Fashion on magazines”. Nonsense. Commonplaces. People talking without thinking. People that doesn’t know fashion and hangs on to trivial comments. “Those were golden years: Tarlazzi, Yamamoto, Comme, Mugler, Coveri”. Etcetera, etcetera. The difference between now and then is the different approach of the final consumer, in other words yours. In the 80s you, we, lived in a bubble of hot air, in an encouraging social/politic context, that was empty like a chocolate egg. And – thank God – there were design, art and fashion to cheer us up. But also to fog our minds, giving too much attention to outward appearance. It was a sparkle, everything seemed to be easy. In the following decade, a step off: no colors, no sequins. Black, black and black: like toy soldiers in a row. Today fashion is more alive than ever, more creative than ever. Open your eyes! Some clothes from s/s menswear collections, shot by Rankin in the backstage of his studios.
