WEARABLE ART
Boots, Dr Martens, f/w 2017.
The fusion of two symbols, very different for their origins, of the english culture: the Dr Martens on one side, the popular boots elected as icons by the mods in the 60s (and then by other british subcultures), and William Blake, londoner artist of the 19th century, that was a misunderstood visionary, but now is considered one of the greatest English artists of all time. The result is a limited edition collection of DM’s, part of an ongoing partnership with Tate Britain; in this case, the painting Satan Smiting Job with Sore Boils c. 1826 subvert Dr Martens 1460 into a piece of wearable art.
