Leonor Rigau è stata – per oltre 50 anni – una delle poche donne presenti nel mondo dell’arte contemporanea argentina. I suoi dipinti mostrano la trasgressione e la mutilazione del corpo umano e della natura. Lei è sia un’artista che un’insegnante, con riconoscimenti nazionali e internazionali. Dal suo insegnamento e dalla ricerca e creazione personale, Leonor ha trovato le basi del suo lavoro nel colore e nella luce generando opere visive in cui immagine e riflesso sembrano fondersi in una continua interazione. Leonor Rigau has been – for over 50 years – one of the few women continuously present in the Argentine contemporary art world. Her paintings show the transgression, mutilation and tearing open of the human body and nature. She is an artist and teacher, with national and international recognition. Both from her teaching and from the field of research and personal creation, Leonor has founded her work in that regard color and light that led to a field in which teaching, doing visual work and reflection seem to fuse into a continuous interaction. The architecture, the machines vision, mechanical appliances and light materials, the games of shadows and vitraux have been ways to that investigation, pre-texts for her visual creations. Her work is always mobile, because its subject matter is the thought, and around it, Leonor traces a bright iridescent archipelago for the eyes and mind of anyone who dares to play with her work in complete freedom. Through numerous individual and group exhibitions, Leonor Rigau’s art is renowned mainly because of works that are associated with neoexpressionism, presented in pictorial series, containing statements that deal mostly with themes linked to the individual’s identity and its interaction with the existing environment.
