La copertina del numero e la campagna pubblicitaria in IV di copertina

Tendenze moda del passato…che ritornano:  a vent’anni esatti dalla pubblicazione su Harper’s Bazaar Uomo di questo servizio, anche oggi molti designer ripropongono disegni e fantasie su stoffa che rappresentano animali. Le foto sono di Rennio Maifredi (che all’epoca si firmava senza cognome).  Dal 2005 Rennio vive e ha la sua base operativa a New York. I suoi scatti hanno molto successo e vengono scelti dai periodici di moda e informazione più importanti del mondo, dal New York Times Magazine a Glamour. Nel suo obbiettivo è finita gente del calibro di Lady Gaga. Rennio ha mosso i suoi primi passi nella fotografia di moda proprio con me, per Harper’s: questi scatti furono realizzati con il banco ottico in Polaroid  formato 20×25; abbiamo fatto due foto uguali – una in bianco e nero e una seppiata –  dopo sono state strappate proprio nel punto in cui si vedono meglio le stampe, e infine sovrapposte e fotografate.

Friendly Classic. Living fashion with an easier approach. In other words: integrating a male aesthetic that mixes everyday clothes with more informal garments we wear only at home. I’ve always been annoyed by this kind of mix, in fact I’ve always looked askance at my colleagues that wear sneakers with the suit. But – partly – I have to change idea. Homewear mixed in the right amount with more classic garments suits me a little bit more now: maybe because I’m a fashion victim too and I’ve got used to such a young trend even if I’m a conservative at heart. It’s true that today lots of designers offer a kind of clothing that lies between sportswear and comfort. Basically, the strong effect of the techno/classic (the shiny blue lycra trousers with the blue coat: what a horror!) is softened, to advantage of a more friendly american style translated in contemporary taste. Ok, I like it.
